Melbourne Cinémathèque 2024

Format: Poster, screen graphic, program calendar
Year: 2023

Shortlisted for the Melbourne Cinémathèque 2024 screenings
The proposed identity for the Melbourne Cinémathèque 2024 is inspired by the global film industry and distribution. The circular graphic elements evoke the image of the globe, subtly nodding to the iconic MPA logo, while the flowing ribbon encircling the twin globes symbolizes the worldwide dissemination of cinema. Typography conveys the dual nature of the Cinémathèque's programming. The serif typeface used for the Melbourne Cinémathèque's title serves as an homage to the classic, bygone era of film, encapsulating the rich history and tradition of cinema. In contrast, the incorporation of sans-serif fonts represents the dynamic, modern era of film, bridging the old and the new. The program calendar features films from various eras and countries, with the ribbon motif guiding the viewer through each film’s time and place, enhancing the experience of exploring cinema's diverse history and global influence.
